I took the ferry at 8 pm in Wellington so I arrived in Picton at 11pm. We were able to do a late check-in even if the reception was closed. Everything was prepared and indicated on the letter so we could have a nice sleep after this journey ! I don't know if they still do the pudding at night but unfortunately I missed that ! :) I should have come earlier :) It was good to stay here again, the last time I came to Sequoia was 7 years ago when I was working here as a woofer! That brought me some good memories of this place !

We loved the location, easy walking distance from sea front cafes and restaurants, and shops. We were made very welcome and enjoyed meals and cooking with other guests and the hosts. We were picked up/dropped off from ferry and train. I could hang my washing outside and not have to use tumble drier in wonderful weather. Excellent value for the washing machines too! $3 a wash! We are stopping there on our way back to N Island and are looking forward to it.

For the price we paid it was great. It had more than we expected for a backpacker accommodation. The double bed was comfortable, and sheets and blankets were provided. Our room also had its own toilet and shower and hand basin. The communal kitchen was close by and contained surprisingly many useful items for the campers to use for food preparation and hot drinks. For budget accommodation, it is A+ from my point of view.

We stayed here twice this year and loved it both times. Really friendly atmosphere with large, comfy and well equipped kitchen, dining & seating areas . Free breakfast every day. Easy walk into Picton ( and we are 75 yrs and 67 yrs one of us with arthritis!) for shopping, coffee and fishing on the pier-or boat trips . Pick up and drop off , no charge, to ferry and train station. Rooms adequate size, clean and comfy.

Rosalind

24hr access to kitchen. Linen and blankets provided. Room was very clean as well as the bathroom. Management and staff were extra helpful and allowed us the use of the main lodge for extra eight hours when our afternoon ferry cancelled. Transport supplied to the terminal at no extra charge, showing kindness to strangers.
